TIMBERRR … yard. A warm and inviting warehouse space in Edinburgh’s Old Town, Timberyard is all about attention to detail and cabin vibes. From the perfectly presented small plates to the blanket-draped chairs, this is one happy and unforgettable experience.
The daily changing menu features items like butter langoustine, a plump and juicy bite with fennel, tarragon and cream, or raw venison with goat’s curd, beetroot and scurvy grass – great for Instagram, great for your belly. And the cocktails are just as crafty: The Vagabond with Aquavit, sweet vermouth and caraway channels a Martinez but with an added herbaceous dimension. For a biscuity, citrusy delight try The Colonial with gin, tonic cordial, London Sour and burnt blood orange.
There’s a strong focus on UK spirits and produce, with plenty of homemade syrups and infusions – plus wines by the glass start from £3. For the quality, it’s more than worth the price and you’ll feel the Scot love through and through.
Best Bars tip: If you don’t have time for a meal, grab a seat by the wood-burning stove and order yourself a few of their dainty delicious drinks. And in the summer, walk out to their woody garden for alfresco boozing.
