The New Cross House has been around for hundreds of years – and it’s no wonder, being so popular with crews both young and old. In its most recent incarnation, it proves a real hot spot in the area, cleverly juggling between excellent food and a great range of beers and cider, in a venue that takes classic pub to new levels.
You’ll find a brew to suit your taste here – from Florence Brewery real ales to bottles of local craft beer. If wine is what you’re after, get a bottle of Don Duela Gran Reserva with some blue cheese flatbread for an impromptu cheesy red session.
Don’t feel down if the front room seems packed – the New Cross House’s best feature is its beautiful beer garden, complete with table tennis and a two-storey treehouse-cum-shed. Get comfortable and order yourself one of the wood-oven pizzas; we love the speck, pesto, spring onions, ricotta and mozzarella combo.
Best Bars tip: Bit too full? They’ll pack your pizza to go. If you decide to go for a meal with fries, forget the usual mayo and ask for a serving of the aioli – splendid.
