Like its Camden big brother, the new Shoreditch-based Blues Kitchen is a temple to the coolest B’s in the book: blues, BBQ and booze.
Head to the giant bar and let the staff guide you through the endless whisky menu. There’s enough bourbon to give your palate a good tickle, and even some vintage numbers from the 1960s for special occasions. If you need a step back from the brown stuff, have yourself a refreshing Wibblem with sloe gin, Beefeater Gin, Chambord and grapefruit. That’ll get you nice and ready for a blues BBQ blow out, a combo of slow-smoked pork ribs, melting pulled pork and BBQ chicken – cutlery is not an option.
Take a wander around, you’re in for a treat. From the 15-litre lobster tank to the airstream caravan to the artfully tiled loos, there’s not one corner of this place that doesn’t feel like an authentic Southern joint. It certainly helps that this place serves as a stage to some of the best bluesmen around.
Best Bars tip: On Rib Mondays you can get a stack of steaming BBQ grub for a mere tenner. Also, for a real feel of old-school Texas, pop by on Tuesdays for the weekly swing night.
