Mother’s is a “Gin & Draught” bar built into a long comfortable space on the road from Edinburgh’s city centre to close-by Stockbridge. It has big padded booths for tête-à-têtes and a good selection of seating to suit groups too. The basement area can also hold a generous number of people should you have a lot of friends.
If the décor adorned with bowler hats and pin stripes doesn’t inspire you to try a sharp G&T from their large selection then why not go straight for a Stockbridge Sling? Edinburgh gin, raspberry and elderflower gin liqueurs and citrus deliver the ultimate palette wetter for the beef and smoked applewood burger, which was beautifully served on an onion roll with hand-cut chips and beetroot coleslaw.
Mother’s delivers a real comfort element so bring your family at the weekends. Weekday evenings tend to have a nice buzz as people relax on “their way home”.
Best Bars tip: The way to a lady’s heart is often found in her G&T – grab a booth and spend the evening.
