All-day drinking spot Stories beside Hackney’s Broadway Market is another winning hangout from the team behind The Book Club and Queen of Hoxton.
Cocktails are thirst-quenchers for sunny days – the Tall with rum, honey, lime and ginger beer – or revivers for the morning after. Real originality is found on the killer list of spiked juices and smoothies, including a far from wholesome milkshake mixed with Four Roses bourbon. As an all-day destination, food slips casually from brunch into burgers and evening bar snacks.
Stories also serves as an art gallery, with work by local artists exhibited on the walls. The bar runs “thinking and drinking” events – thoroughly cerebral music nights, talks and workshops. Décor is minimal, Scandinavian-inspired chic, with white-washed walls, pops of primary colours, cacti plants and pretty tea lights on tables.
Best Bars tip: Take part in the latest phenomenon to hit London, Pheromone Parties – the scent-based take on speed dating is held at Stories.
