An early 19th century lock keeper’s cottage perched beside the canal, Lock 91 is set within an idyllic Victorian house kitted out with three bars and a BBQ terrace. The locks are where the summer (and winter) nights should be enjoyed.
Cocktails with a twist of originality are the serve of the day. The illusive Smokey Scarlett is a hard-hitting option with Johnnie Walker Red Label, Southern Comfort Cherry and maple syrup mixed together in a jam jar. Get your eye patch on for Jack’s Treasure Chest complete with Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Oakheart and Kraken Spiced Rum, topped with gallons of fresh juices and lime – it is a treat to enjoy with your mateys.
Top floor is for the clubbers, middle for the hipsters and lower for the Chesterfield loungers. Either way, you get a pretty scenic view of the locks.
Best Bars tip:Don’t miss out on the bang-for-your-buck happy hour with £5 cocktails from 5-8pm as well as £3 tankards of guest ale.
