Facing the new high-tech Edinburgh University buildings in the heart of its city campus lies a tribute to farm-life goodness, The Potting Shed. You’ll recognise it by its distinctive wooden signage – this bar does countryside green like no one else – with cleverly designed garden shed interiors.
You’ll make everyone around you salivate by ordering yourself Jack’s super slow cooked pulled pork with crispy crackling and BeerBQ sauce. Wash it down with a local IPA – we highly recommend it. But if you’re itching for something of the spirits variety, try one of the cocktails. In the day, order yourself a G & Tea with green tea-infused gin, tonic, fresh lime and served in a tea cup. In the evening you can wrap up your night with a Hot Pot – a bit of scotch, honey and Drambuie … that’s our kind of nightcap.
The draw of The Potting Shed is its generous spaces. From a quick coffee to a business lunch for 20, numbers aren’t a problem here. Food is served throughout the day and there is a well apportioned raised area should you want a more intimate table.
Best Bars tip: As with any good beer bar, ask what’s new – the board is updated daily with a thoughtful selection of great beers.
