One of Haggerston’s shining lights, Mr Buckley’s offers on-trend small plates with banging boozy cocktails.
Underneath the restaurant is a groovy little cocktail bar where delightful gin concoctions dominate – the 277 is a thirst quencher crafted from sloe gin, lemon juice, cucumber and prosecco, while The G’n’Tea packs more punch thanks to breakfast tea mixed with gin, lemon and sugar. A modern wine list can also be enjoyed with innovative small plates such as truffled chestnut mushroom pâté and grilled sardines with aubergine caponata.
Mr Buckley’s has got hip down to a tee – it’s stripped-back, bathed in light, and filled with minimalist, repurposed furniture. It gathers a crowd by night, but lazy, booze-fuelled weekend brunches prove just as popular here.
Best Bars tip: Mr Buckley’s take on the Bloody Mary – a Bloody Madison – will sort you out on Sundays, perfectly combining bacon-infused bourbon and chipotle spices.
