Trafalgar Square’s in demand rooftop terrace, Vista, is one of the capital’s most desired summer drinking suntraps.
Each year sees a new themed drinks list, and summer 2014 honours Great Britain’s sensibilities in the style stakes. Top Hats are simply the best – a list of champagnes of the tallest order. Bow Ties are refreshing and bold, including a rum-based Guyana Old Fashioned for the modern Don Drapers. Meanwhile Cravats are elegant and memorable, like the Vista Boulevard, an incredibly sweet combination of vodka, melon, lemon and ginger ale. So you don’t get too giddy up on the roof, continental food platters can be procured.
This celebrity-style hangout remains busy summer-round, with patio heaters countering the threat of the British chill once the sun goes down. Reserve a seat overlooking Trafalgar Square and you’ll almost be at eye level with Admiral Lord Nelson.
Best Bars tip: On Sundays, Vista transforms itself into New York-style party BOHO, with house DJs, a BBQ and an all-new Bloody Mary brunch.
