Are thoughts of beach holidays too far off in the distance? Well luckily for you there’s a beacon of light that’s cropped up in Shoreditch – and this casual and colourful eatery is the Peruvian charmer Andina. After killing it in Soho with Ceviche, Martin Morales is bringing that Andes charm to East London. The focus here is on the food, a perfect balance of zest and spice, but if you’re a Pisco Sour fan then this needs to be next on your to-do list.
The cocktail menu is all pisco, all the time – with lots of infusions and fruity variations on the classic. We’re partial to the original recipe but if you’re looking for something longer (and sweeter) then try the Tupac Amaru with grapefruit-infused pisco, goldenberry coulis, smoked vodka and ginger ale.
Like its Soho brother, Andina does ceviche … and does it very well. If you can’t make up your mind, order the Tiger’s Milk Trio for three different shooters of ceviche: scallop, sea bass and prawn. Careful, these can be of the hotter variety if you have a weaker palate. We’re not judging though – well maybe just a little.
Best Bars tip: We say, forget the tables and try to grab a couple of stools at one of the counters (bar or kitchen). This way you get to ogle serious craftsmanship while sipping down on the frothy, sunny sours – becoming increasingly cheerful with each sip.
