It’s easy to see why Tony Conigliaro has gained such ground on London’s cocktail scene when you stop by Clerkenwell brainchild Zetter Townhouse Cocktail Lounge.
The classics don’t come quirkier in London, with Tony C recreating the Martini with stylish simplicity – the Köln Martini is Beefeater Gin and dry vermouth with just a drop of citrus aromatics. The alcohol speaks for itself in this hefty blend, which seems to follow the bar’s theme: elevating the classics with in-house aromatics and distillations. Occasional wackiness can be seen in the likes of Drie Van Drie – seaweed-infused whisky, salted liquorice bitters and sherry. And with bar snacks by Bruno Loubet, it’s an all-around assault on the senses.
The same can be said for décor by the Russell Sage Studio. Extravagant period bookcases, cabinets and lampshades lavishly fill the boutique Georgian townhouse.
Best Bars tip: With lots of adorable nooks to occupy, Zetter Townhouse makes a great date spot if you’re out to impress. And if you can’t get enough of the cocktail concoctions, then head to 69 Colebrooke Row for more Tony C creations.
