Sometimes we all need a bit of pampering and Claridge’s Bar is one of the best in the world for it. One of designer David Collins’ finest works, this art deco gem effortlessly defines incessant vogue.
The bar’s signature mock red alligator leather, the cream pillars and cornices, the beautifully subtle floristry displays and the shots of celebrity icons by hot snapper David Young are all tied together in a way that makes you instantaneously feel as though you’ve just come home for Christmas.
The signature drink here is The Flapper: a blended strawberry, champagne and crème de cassis number that’s been on the menu since the bar first opened on account of it being ultra mega yum! The Black Pearl is another Claridge’s classic made with Żubrówka vodka, Chambord, blackberries and freshly pressed pink grapefruit juice — clean, crisp and extremely addictive. If you’re not in the mood for a cocktail you’ll be happy to know that the champagne selection here is as iconic as the bar itself, with rare vintages that show nothing less than meticulous erudition.
Best Bars tip: Arrive via the iconic Davis Street entrance and leave via the main foyer to really take in the full magic of Claridge’s. Take a breath, count to three and make a wish. Claridge’s will take care of the rest.
