Santiago Bar proudly dons the motto “Hard Rock, Hard Liquor, Hard Times” — so if you like your music as hard as you like your booze, this good-times rock bar will be your ultimate drinking hang.
Santiago’s drinks menu is impressively long, featuring all the best-known spirit brands primed for cheap, strong cocktails. Try the bar’s take on a Tennessee Tea and you’ll see what we mean. There’s also a good range of bottled and tap beers if you’re not up for choosing one of the “cocktails for moshers” – a term affectionately assigned to the cocktail list by regular punters and Santiago’s wildly entertaining bar team.
Santiago is well known as one of Leeds’ great live gig venues and when up-and-coming bands aren’t performing, staff-created indie and metal playlists blare out. Naturally, this tends to attract a more alternative crowd however you won’t feel out of place if you don’t own Metallica’s entire back catalogue. Although rough round the edges and full of quirky décor — think band posters, glass chandeliers, giant palm trees and antique road-signs — this is a very casual and friendly drinking spot for anyone out for a fun night.
Best Bars Tip: Head to Santiago’s for Whiskey Wednesdays when straight whisky or a whisky and mixer are priced at a tempting £2 all night long.
