Treacle is a trendy haunt on ever-popular Broughton Street. On a warm day, the bar’s alfresco space is a welcome sight – particularly for the people watchers out there. Inside it’s well apportioned with separate bar and dining areas all surrounded by colourful cartoon walls.
… And The Beet Goes On – a lipsmacking mix of Jack D, cassis, lemon and apple juices, grapefruit sherbet and freshly smashed grapefruit, paired with home cut chips and fresh aioli will only get you in the mood for more. Follow it up and order a deeper Sleeping Deer with Glenfiddich, pear cognac, lemon, mint and chamomile.
Open from mid-morning every day for coffee and serving nosh all day, Treacle really is a jack-of-all-trades on the Edinburgh scene. Weekend evenings see the place jumping with the young and trendy — all happily mingling with cocktails in hands.
Best Bars tip: Kick back, relax and enjoy. The friendly staff won’t kick you out for being stuffy but will try to persuade you otherwise. Our best tip though is to head here for brunch and try to tackle the American-style pancake stack.
