Mission Bethnal Green Addie Chinn

This is one Mission you’ll definitely want to complete. From the wine-loving duo behind Sager + Wilde, comes their second outpost sitting within the naturally atmospheric railway arches on Bethnal Green’s Paradise Row. The copper-topped bar, ceiling-high palm tree, and alit wine-filled backbar all seamlessly come together to bring you that quintessential modern wine experience.

The grape is where it’s at — with a heavy focus on Californian offerings. And if you find the list a bit too daunting, speak up — they’re there to help. Bottles are affordable with a modest mark-up that won’t break the bank … so indulge yourself in a boozy bargain. And whether it’s red, white or fizz you’re after — you can get a Mission’s own bottle that’s worth a taste. Hungry? There’s as much care and love put into the food menu as there is into the wine list. Seasonal dishes mean ingredients are packed full of flavour, with anchovies making an appearance across the board. If you’re just having a wee nibble, don’t miss the delectably crisp garlic and rosemary potatoes. And if it’s on offer, order the globe artichoke with a moreish anchovy dip (there it is again). Heartier fare includes delights like salt ox cheek with lentils and salsa verde or grilled mackerel with pickled gooseberries and chili. And no matter what, everything you order lends itself naturally to pairing … so decisions will be made easier.

Whether you’re sipping alfresco on the terrace, sitting up on the bar or nabbing a table in the mezzanine dining room — this caters to all occasions.

Best Bars tip: We know it’s all about the vino here, and you’d be silly to pass it up … but the cocktails are a serious bargain and are seriously tasty. All pre-bottled, you can get a mini-serve for £4.50 or share a bottle for £12. The Manhattan is beautiful, consistent and perfectly executed.
