Together with substantial swathes of Birmingham, we can’t stop talking about Peach Pub’s latest venture. A classic white villa in the heart of leafy Edgbaston, The High Field is a gastropub with a menu and wine list befitting royalty.
For a full-bodied drop of red, the Mendoza Malbec Clasico 2012 offers quaffers a sublime intensity. But it’s the showcase Tidenham farm duck breast and duck cottage pie, port and juniper reduction that had us boring the taxi driver on the journey home with a ludicrously excessive bite-by-bite account.
The closest we have seen to suburbanite heaven. With multiple outdoor spaces, children are welcomed but do not dominate.
Best Bars tip: A table by the open kitchen, if you can get it, will make your visit as much a visual spectacle as a taste triumph.
